Anhidrosis/Electrolytes

Anhidrosis/Electrolytes

When a horse's electrolyte levels are unbalanced or depleted, physiological disruption can occur. Physiological disruption can include some, or all, of the following: critical cellular functions in the muscles, gut and heart begin to slow or shut down. This, combined with the resulting drop in blood volume and pressure, may lead to a potentially deadly metabolic crisis.  The right electrolyte can help prevent this serious medical condition in your horse.

A "non-sweater" is horse that is suffering from a condition known as anhidrosis in which there is an absence of an adequate amount of sweat. This condition is frequently performance limiting and can put a horse at risk for hyperthermia, or even a heat stroke.

We carry a variety of brands to help you get the electrolytes your horse needs to help replace the electrolytes lost when they sweat, keeping them healthy and happy.
